Google announced a series of tools focused on AI in India at the Google for India event. These features include visual outputs such as images, videos, and information about government programs.
The search giant said it is making its search generative (SGE) tests in India more localized and visualized by showing images and videos in the results. For example, if a person searches for “How to drape a saree,” they will get step-by-step instructions on different draping styles. Additionally, the results will also include a video.
We’re making the Search Creation Experience more intuitive and local by including images and videos in many overviews.

The company said that while searching for local information like things to do in the city you’re traveling to, the search aggregated experience (SGE) will also list helpful user reviews. For example, if you search “Is Jaipur Fort wheelchair friendly?” Generic AI search powered results will show user reviews related to that.

Notably, Google Maps has highlighted wheelchair-friendly locations and businesses on the app. Recently, the company also provided guidance on wheelchair-friendly shopping routes on Maps.
In August, Google expanded its search engine experience (SGE) to India with a toggle feature for users to switch from Hindi to English without leaving the results page. The company said at the time that the ads would appear in dedicated spots in AI-powered search results.
